I AM
CHOSEN
I decided to use I AM CHOSEN as the first devotion for the I AM Challenge for the sole reason I believe everyone has a desire to be chosen...
Do you recall your first memory when you experienced being chosen?
For most it was in an elementary gym being chosen to play on a team. Whether you were chosen first or last, the unspoken voice inside was the same..."Pick Me!!"
For others the memory of chosen is stronger for you when you were asked to the school dance, when you got that job or even when you got engaged.
There is something that happens internally when we know we are chosen by someone else. We feel accepted, validated, loved.
For many though, these words I AM Chosen will touch a deeper place.
I want you to know this is intentional. I understand what it feels like to be picked last, left off the guest list to a party or passed over for a job. It hurts, right? I understand.
Imagine being told "you were never wanted" - those words turned my world upside down and led me on a journey to seek out the truth of who I really was...and this verse Ephesians 1:4...touched my heart and healed those hurts of not being chosen by others...and for the first time I began to understand what He says about me is what matters most...and out of the deepest hurt I have known came my purpose.
To speak life to you!
I am praying that today as you speak out the these life giving words to yourself today, you will begin to understand the depths of your worth to God.
Think about this He chose you. Yes, YOU!
Not only did He choose you, but He chose you for such a time as this! You were created to exist on this earth today, right now because He needs you! You are a vital part of the story!
I love how the message version translates Ephesians 1:3-6.
Beloved You have Always been His FIRST Choice!
3-6 How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
Do you recall a time when you felt chosen?
