HOLY SPIRIT
Have you ever been at the edge of a pool on a hot summer day and had to make a decision of how to enter into the water; will you gingerly step into the pool on the shallow side or go to the deep end and dive in?
C'mon jump in the water's fine!
I don't want you to wait until the end of the book to give you the best part!
I want you to have full access to all God has for you on this challenge. Its time to dive in and get fully immersed in what the Lord wants to give you!
Perhaps some of you are wondering what the phrase “led by the Spirit” means for your life.
I believe its living each moment in dependence on the Lord, being sensitive to His voice and to be obedient to Him.
Being led by the Holy Spirit isn't some wierd 'new age' thing, it's a gift Jesus gave to us when He ascended into heaven!
But when the Father sends the Comforter instead of me—and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit—he will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you. John 14:26 TLB
Wow! He sent us a counselor, a friend, and a helper. How amazing is that? We don't have to navigate this world alone, unequipped...if we will believe, listen and obey.
I once heard a sermon preached about the trinity and how we are not fully embracing the access we have to heaven today. The pastor said: "we serve a 3/3 God but the world is only accessing 2/3" of the mighty power of Heaven on earth.
Whoa!
Let that sink in...
1. God
2. Jesus
3. Holy Spirit
We are in awe of God the Creator. We are grateful to Jesus the Savior. But...many in the faith have this weird thing with the Holy Spirit.
Whats up with that?
Oh my friends, its time to embrace what you have always had available to you, the power and the wisdom of your greatest advocate!
What does it mean to be led by the Holy Spirit?
First, it begins with a conversation. Praying and listening, learning to become aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence with you. He's there, He's always there...
Next, submit to Him as you feel Him pulling you in a certain direction or tugging at your heart to take a particular course of action, even if you don’t quite understand why.
Once I was driving to a meeting and I 'felt' an overwhelming sense to go a different direction. If you know me, you know I am a stickler about being on time, so, because changing my route would add 2-3 minutes, I ignored the thought. But the Holy Spirit persisted. A little further down the road, I became extremely thirsty, my throat began to feel scratcy and sore. I felt a 'pull' to turn at the next light and stop at a convienence store and get a bottle of water before my meeting. Within seconds of my changing lanes and stopping at the light to make the turn at the intersection, the cars that were next to me and behind me were hit in the middle of the intersection by another car which had run a red light.
It could have been me.
This specific incident is still very vivid in my memory. It drove me to deep and grateful intercession. I began to seek the Holy Spirits voice in every area of my life.
Have you ever felt convicted to drop a conversation, but stayed and later regretted being pulled into a gossip session? I find myself walking up and away from conversations more than ever these days...that is the Holy Spirit.
Because the Holy Spirit is our helper, and our protector; He is also the advocate brings conviction to our hearts. He wants us to win! He wants us to Speak Life!
One day after seeking the Lord and asking Him to reveal anything unclean in me...He revealed the long list of words that I had spoken.
Words that cut, words that hurt, words that destroyed. They weren't words about anybody else...they were words about me. These words had kept me locked behind a mask of guilt, shame, and condemnation for decades. The Holy Spirit brought conviction to my heart of the words I had not only agreed with (fat, ugly, loser, unwanted, unworthy, stupid, lazy, loud).
Looking in the mirror; I believed I was flawed, broken and unworthy.
But then...
Oh how I love that phrase!
But then...the Holy Spirit began to reveal my true identity through the living breathing Word of GodI The more I read the more conviction came. The more I sought the voice of God, it became stronger and more prevalent in my life.
I began to speak His Word
over my life
and as I did
I began to believe
I AM who HE says I am!
Please Don't Rush through the I AM Challenge today...
Find a moment to sit quietly and ask the Lord to expose any words you may have spoken to yourself. Words that may not have been life giving. Be prepared to confess and repent for saying, recieving and believing the lies.
I pray that as the Lord pours over His grace, mercy and forgiveness, you will be ready to recieve all that He has for you. This is a new day! This is the day the Lord has made let us be glad and reoice!!
